Affiliate Disclosure
Last Updated: May 28, 2026The short version
Some links on joshvamos.com are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the seller pays me a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what I recommend.
- Affiliate links appear only on posts that recommend specific products or services
- Every affiliate link carries
rel="sponsored"in its HTML — the Google-defined standard for paid/affiliate links - I only link to tools I've used, or would use, in real client work
- A higher commission rate does not move a product up the page
- If something was sent to me to review (rather than purchased), that fact will be stated in the article
How I decide what to recommend
I am a working sound editor and sound designer. The tools, plugins, hardware, and services I write about are things I either use in paid client work, have tested in real production conditions, or have evaluated against the alternatives I already trust. I do not accept payment to write positive reviews, and a brand paying a higher commission does not move it up the page.
If I have not personally used something, I will say so. If a recommendation is sponsored or paid placement (separate from affiliate commission), it will be labeled "Sponsored" at the top of the article.
Programs I participate in
joshvamos.com participates in the following affiliate programs:
Impact.com
Operated by Impact Tech, Inc. Provides affiliate tracking and commission infrastructure for a wide range of software and SaaS brands. When you click an Impact.com-tracked link and complete a purchase with a participating brand, Impact records the referral and the brand pays a commission via Impact.
Impact.com privacy policy: impact.com/privacy-policy
B&H Photo Video Pro Audio
Administered by MyAffiliateProgram, owned by Bormerco LLC, on behalf of B & H Foto & Electronics Corp. When you click a B&H-tracked link and complete a purchase at bhphotovideo.com, the program records the referral and B&H pays a commission.
B&H privacy policy: bhphotovideo.com privacy & security policy
These programs allow this site to earn commissions by linking to products and services from participating brands. We may add additional affiliate networks in the future; any new network will be named here before any link to it goes live.
Identifying affiliate links
Every affiliate link on this site carries rel="sponsored" in its HTML, which is the Google-defined standard for paid and affiliate links since 2019. Browser extensions that display link relationships will flag these for you. Additionally, every post containing affiliate links displays a clearly visible disclosure at the top of the page, before any affiliate link appears.
Affiliate links also typically open in a new browser tab and may set a tracking cookie that the affiliate network uses to attribute the resulting purchase back to this site. You can decline this tracking via our cookie consent banner before clicking the link, or by adjusting your browser cookie settings.
What this means in practice
- Reviews reflect actual use. I do not recommend gear or software I have not personally worked with. If a review is based on a short test session rather than long-term use, that will be stated in the article.
- Affiliate income does not influence verdicts. Items that disappointed in use will be flagged as such. Negative experiences with a product I have an affiliate relationship with will still be reported honestly.
- Most gear was purchased at full retail. In the rare case a unit was provided for review (a "seeded" or "gifted" product), that will be explicitly stated in the article in addition to any affiliate disclosure.
- Sponsored posts are labeled. If a brand has paid for the post itself (separate from any affiliate commission on outcomes), the post will carry a "Sponsored" label at the top in addition to the affiliate disclosure.
Your choices
You can decline affiliate tracking at any time through the following mechanisms:
- Cookie consent banner. Decline the "Marketing" category to prevent affiliate tracking cookies from being set on your visit.
- Cookie Settings link. Available from the Legal menu in the bottom navigation bar on every page. Withdrawing consent immediately stops all affiliate and marketing tracking, no page reload required.
- Browser settings. Block third-party cookies in your browser preferences.
- Tracker-blocking extensions. uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, and similar extensions block affiliate tracking by default.
Declining tracking does not affect your ability to view, read, or interact with content on this site. The site will function normally; the only difference is that no commission will be attributed to joshvamos.com if you make a purchase.
